Never say bye because bye means going away and going away means forgetting.
OPSAC 2020 x USF TEAM
Greetings from some undergraduate students at the University of San Francisco! We have teamed up with our local organizational partner One People to give back to the community. We figured the best way to do so would be by providing an online platform with easy access anywhere at anytime in order to reach far communities we haven't been able to before. Engaging in service learning for us means giving the public an outlet to express themselves, explore new stories from others, and feel apart of a welcoming community.
Founded in 2013, One People is an organization that strives to serve the local and global community through the arts by giving volunteers the opportunity to run programs and events. One of the annual programs would be One People's Summer Arts Camp, or OPSAC for short, where youth from the ages of 9 to 14 are invited to participate in a free camp led by teams of volunteers. The objective is to inspire creativity, affirm individuality, and foster inclusivity within the community.
Given the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, an in-person camp is not possible this Summer 2020. One People's response is to shift activities online where people can execute art projects that satisfy the organization's mission from the convenience of their own homes.
